Embroidery beginner pattern (hand embroidery pdf)
This embroidery beginner pattern is inspired by a flower shop in Paris. It’s a beautiful and fun design for you who are learning embroidery. With its different elements, it gets you to practise backstitch, split stitch, satin stitch and the famous French knots. Enjoy the meditative effects of modern hand embroidery. All while being creatively productive and with a unique embroidered artwork at the end of the road.
The Monceau Fleurs design is a favourite embroidery beginner pattern.Whether you’re completely new to embroidery or if you’ve stitched a couple of designs before, this pattern will allow you to practise a series of useful stitch techniques. For example, for neat contours, we recommend to use the backstitch technique. Even though it may look advanced on the final result, the secret is to simply reduce the number of strands. For most of our patterns, we like to use only a thin single stranded thread. This creates a modern and graphical impression, which is hard to come by in many other beginner embroidery designs.
We believe that to create should be fun, inspiring and accessible. Hence, we strongly encourage you to begin with patterns that inspire you to stitch. Unfortunately, many beginners patterns are simplified to the extent that they lose the charm. Thus, we did our best to keep a beautiful, yet simplistic style.
The flower shop on the ground floor is a pure joy to stitch. Please feel free to experiment with colour combinations and various thickness of threads. To create the illusion of miniature florals, you can mix tight and loose French knots. When small tight knots are placed close to each other, each knot becomes like a mini petal. On the other hand, if you use a thicker thread and pull the knot slightly more lose, the knot may represent a blooming rose by itself. There are no limitations as to which kinds of flowers you can stitch.
